MARY - Your Best Selfhttp://www.stmarysbeaudesert.qld.edu.au/latest-news1/Pages/MARY---Your-Best-Self.aspxMARY - Your Best Self<p></p><p>Each week we begin with MJR Assembly in the Gallagher Centre. We talk about one area of our St Mary’s Behaviour Expectations. This week we are looking at Y from Mary - Your Best Self in the classroom and one aspect of this that we talked about was<strong><em> “working with confidence and persistence”.</em></strong><br><br>We often talk about the need for persistence and not giving up but we focused a little more this week on confidence. As a learner it can be easy to say this is too hard and I am no good at it. Sometimes as parents we can say “I was no good at Maths either or I wasn’t very good at art” and this is meant in a comforting and supportive way but sometimes these types of responses can have the opposite effect. STEM Mad 2023http://www.stmarysbeaudesert.qld.edu.au/latest-news1/Pages/STEM-Mad-2023.aspxSTEM Mad 2023<p></p><p>On Tuesday Two groups of students travelled to Brisbane for the STEM MAD Showcase (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).<br><br>The STEM MAD Student Showcase is a celebration of student learning designed to acknowledge and promote STEM learning initiatives that address real-world problems and demonstrate the particularity of Catholic Schools; encouraging students to make a difference (MAD) in the world by acting for justice and the common good. The focus is to Make A Difference by creating a Service, Environment or Product which is considered through the lens of Catholic stewardship, solidarity, common good, citizenship, humanity and wellbeing. Students are required to design a service, product, or innovation to Make A Difference (MAD) to others or the environment.<br><br>Group 1 created the FPA Bot (Farming, Planting and Agriculture Bot).<br><br>Group 2 created the Lantilla (Lantana Killer).<br><br>They competed against 120 different groups from BCE. Unfortunately, no prizes were won but they all had an awesome day. They should be very proud of their efforts!
