This week we welcomed Brett Lee from Internet Safe Education. He was a former Child
Exploitation Detective for 16 years. He spoke with students, staff and parents yesterday. He
had some very key messages about how important it is for students to understand that the
internet connects them with real people, it is not private, and if they do not feel
comfortable, they should turn it off, walk away, or even change games. Most importantly
children should have a trusted adult that they can talk to.
He highlighted to parents how you should be talking to your children all the time about
their internet use, and it should definitely not be happening in bedrooms or bathrooms.
I am very appreciative of the grant we received from Catholic School Parents Queensland to
help make this event happen and to the parents who were able to attend
