During Term 4, Vinnies begins its annual Christmas Appeal, seeking donations and funds to help support people during the festive season. It is estimated that there are over 750,000 children across Australia living in poverty with many families and individuals feeling socially isolated. The Christmas appeal aims to support families and individuals struggling by helping to pay bills, provide food, clothing, hampers and presents during the festive season.
Our St. Mary’s school community will once again participate in the Christmas appeal by collecting goods to go in hampers which will be given to families and individuals in the local area. Your donations of non-perishable food items would be greatly appreciated, as we encourage our children to take part in this service project by supporting this worthy cause. Collection boxes will be located in each classroom for the next three weeks.
The Beaudesert RSL provides hope and joy for our soldiers overseas each year through their Christmas Card project. Students in our district participate in this initiative with enthusiasm and joy. Each child writes a small message inside a Christmas card, to bring happiness to those away from home, defending our country. Our students in Years 5 have spent time over the last 2 weeks remembering not only those who have lost their lives at war, but those who face these challenges each day. Our cohort of 2020 leaders wrote beautiful messages that demonstrate the compassion and kindness in their hearts. They are serving with a heart and mind of mercy.
